How we source our stones

Every stone we set arrives with a history. We work with a small number of cutters and dealers we have known for years, and we ask the same questions every time: where was it mined, who cut it, and what has been done to it since.

That last question matters more than most buyers realise. Heat, oil and fracture filling are common in the colored stone trade. None of them are automatically disqualifying — but they change the value and the care instructions, so they belong on the invoice, not in the footnotes.

When a stone does not pass, we pass. It is the least glamorous part of the job and the reason our collections stay small.
