Building a stack that lasts
Three rules for layering chains and rings so the result reads as considered rather than accumulated.
Start with one anchor piece — usually the shortest chain or the widest band — and build outward. The anchor sets the metal tone and everything else answers to it.
Vary the weight, not the color. A stack of similar-gauge chains flattens; a fine chain beside a heavier link reads intentional. Mixing yellow and white gold works when one is clearly dominant.
Leave a gap. The negative space between pieces is what makes a stack look styled rather than stored.
